Teens With A view

A group of teenagers have put their own spin on the popular daytime talk show The View - they call it, Teens With A View. The show features five teens as co-host and segment reporters. The two girls and three boys, each spend time researching and reviewing relevant topics that affect everyone and puts a humorous but conscious spin to them. The 8-10 minute program is taped in a conversational setting with each teen tackling a myriad of issues. Segments vary and some include, Girl Talk, Education Update, Fashion and Artist of the Week. The show also features NEW talent, including singers, rappers, musicians, poets, and artist. All talent is recruited exclusively from the internet. Since its first episode, the show has had thousands of viewers and supporters and it is growing weekly. The cast of Teens With A View is from all different walks of life, and the mix of personalities makes for a very lively, interesting and funny show as in, you never know what youre going to get! View the bio and photo of each of the cast teenswithaview.com. Teens With A View fills a void of positive internet/web-based programs, said LaVoyce, the shows creator and producer. Teenagers spend so much time on the internet watching you tube and theres so much negative TV programming and web programs out there I thought it would be cool if something interesting, funny, entertaining, positive and informative could be available, she said. The show is shot weekly from Future Audio Recording & Multimedia Complex in Dallas. New episodes for teens with a view are uploaded every Monday at YOUTUBE.COM/TEENSWITHAVIEW.

Uganda’s Next Top Model.

Once again Record TV has a programme on its hands that has incredible potential to be a hit. The Next Top Model hosted by Rebecca Beric Sanger a.k.a Becky.

Despite being clearly on a shoe-string budget, Record TV’s The Next Top Model is more than watchable on Fridays 9:30p.m. with a repeat show on Sunday at 8:00p.m.
It is fascinating; in the same way it was to watch Tusker Project Fame, to see how 20 hopeful girls are whittled down just to one girl who the organisers promise to make the most recognised modeling face in Uganda.
Becky, also the Day-breaker co-host has been itching for a chance to host such a show since she was in Tina School of Beauty and Fashion from where she graduated in December 2008. Perhaps even longer when she was first the host of WBS’ Kook & Dine in 2006.
“I was [bold] and approached Mr. Wavamunno and told him I wanted to be a presenter on his TV during a dinner. I was in my Senior Six vacation.”

Learning on the job – if you watch The Next Top Model –seems exactly what Becky and her three judges are doing with this TV show since it began in February.
The combative trio is obviously trying to imitate Simon Cowell, who has made a career out of blunt talking in American Idol and X Factor.
One of the judges is Richard who runs Divine Models where the winning girl will get a spot. The other judge, Emmanuel Byaruhanga, is a former Arapapa model while the host Becky is a fashion designer.

The judges though are sometime not much better professionally than the girls they are supposed to be grooming into Uganda’s next Eva Mbabazi or Priscilla Ray. For a 30-minute, it is frustrating to spend more than 15 minutes listening to the judges lecturing the girls on what being a model entails. Their training is conducted at Fairway Hotel.

The lack of innovative camera work in a show that primarily depends on visual appeal is equally annoying. The camera man spends more time focused on the judges than the girls.
Not surprisingly, as Becky admits, the programme is yet to get a sponsor. “I have to put in some of my money sometimes,” she says.

But the 6th born of 10 kids to the late Beric Sanger Churchill and Bonita Sanger Manjur is determined to make The Next Top Model work and become an annual event.
The 23-year-old has been keen on television since she first starred in a production highlighting Tooro culture during King Oyo’s coronation.
The Next Top Model is more than a monthly meal ticket for Becky; it is “What I have always wanted to do.”

Navio collaborates with Island Def Jam’s Superstar Fefe Dobson

Uganda’s Hip Hop sensation, Navio of Talent 256 International has teamed up with Island Def Jam’s Pop/Rock star, Fefe Dobson, on the remix to her hot new single Stuttering.

Stuttering was produced by heavy weight producer J.R. Rottem (Britney Spears, Sean Kingston, Jason Derulo, and Leona Lewis) and since its release the single has been climbing North American singles charts (US Top 40 and Canadian Top 10). It is the 2nd single from her highly anticipated album, Joy, released through 21 Music and Def Jam / Island Records on November 30, 2010 (North America only...rest of the world in 1st Quarter 2011).

The original music video for Stuttering has received over 3 million YouTube views and in January 2011, a remix version ft Navio will be released.

Navio’s unique flow blends seamlessly into the Pop/Rock song and showcases his creative ability. As an artist, he has proven his versatility...in addition to Fefe Dobson, Navio has showcased his ability on the ONE8 project’s hit single, Hands Across the World, that was written and produced by R Kelly. Navio’s music and brand continues to cross borders as he establishes himself as one of Africa’s great entertainers. With his role in the Airtel ONE8 project, his signing to Rockstar 4000 / Sony Music and his latest album called "African Hustler Music" ready for release; sky is the limit for Uganda's hottest export.

Fefe Dobson is a pop/rock singer signed to 21 Music and Def Jam / Island Records. She is managed by music mogul Chris Smith, whose efforts have launched the international careers of stars such as Nelly Furtado, Brick & Lace, and Tamia. Fefe was born in Toronto, Ontario...her mother is of English, Native Canadian, French ancestry and her father is of Jamaican. Before being signed, she admitted to being stereotyped as contemporary R&B or pop singer instead of a rock musician due to her race, often being compared to Brandy and Britney Spears.
